Problem with my 2000-3.2TL

Hi Friends,

My 2000-3.2TL, has developed a problem. When I break to stop the car, the car jerks after coming to stop and the engine goes OFF sometimes. This does not happen if the car is idling with the Gear in PARK mode. I am also noticing slight jerks in low speeds.

Does anybody have an idea on what the problem would be? I have put around 99K miles on the car.

Thanks in advance for your response.

Mani

The jerking and engine turned off could be 2 different issues, but assuming it is one issue, it could be your IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE, or egr problem. How stable is your idle speed in park?

If I shift to Parking, then the vehicle is stable. The idling is fine.

Another thing that I have noticed from the last couple of weeks is that I get a jerking feeling..with a sound...at around 45miles speed...(I guess..when the car is between 2-3 gears). Based on my research, this might be the ALL FAMOUS transmission problem in Acura. Not sure if the two problems are related.

Thanks,
Mani

Since you have 2000TL, it is a good idea to bring it to dealer for inspection, that way you have a record if the tranny really failed later on.
