power steering pump noise

my friends 99 tl is making a p/s pump noise. makes a whining noise when fully cranked to the left or right. could it just be air in the system?? any way to bleed the pump?? fluid is full. anybody else got this problem? should he go with a used part or purchase new??

the pump is worn out. One cheap way to check is try to suck out the old fluid from the reservoir and refill it with the new fluid. if it is better, then do a full flush. If not, then replace the pump.

How do you flush PS fluid, I don't think there is a drain plug...

Buy 2 bottles of Honda PS fluid then run your engine warm ...
Remove the bottom hose of the PS fluid reservoi slowly to let
the old fluid out slowly .... as old fluid goes out slowly add new fluid
from the top ......

Two bottles Honda PS should be enough to flush the system.
When finish turn your steering wheel from complete right to complet
left to bleed air inside the system ( if any ).Good luck

Thanks, how often should we replace PS fluid? Service manual does not have a recommendation.
