Temp Gauge not working

The Engine Coolant Gauage on my cluster does not seem to be working. At first I thought it was the cluster so I tried a cluster from a friends car and the gauge still is not moving at all.

Does anyone know if there is a sensor the reads the gauge and where it's located?

What I would do is
1 - Make sure it's plugged in
2 - Unplug it and see if you get a check engine light (CEL)
3 - If not, buy a new one and see if the dash gauge starts working again.
