Possible tranny issue?

I have just recently experienced this problem and it usually seems to happen or at least I notice it when I am driving too and from work (mostly highway 100 miles round trip).

I would brake lightly from about 60mph to like 30mph or maybe 40mph and some where in between I would feel the car some what jerk slightly as if you were engine braking. At first I thought it would be the brakes maybe catching with the rotor tighter until a co-worker mentioned the same problem to me.

In the morning with the large volume, I drive between 40mph to like 70mph mostly so I feel this more often when I drive to and from work.

Is the tranny about to take a shit? My co-worker has had this happen to him with a new transmission replaced like 8 months ago with 9k miles on the new tranny. I dont ever recall feeling this with the original tranny, and it went all of a sudden with no warning signs. I have about 4k miles and 5 months on this transmission. I hope its not the tranny.

I have an '06 TL and less than 5K miles on it. I do experience this problem, but more so when the car is traveling down an off-ramp or hill. I noticed when I lightly braked to slow down the car from like 60 to 40mph the car's rpm spikes, the car lunges forward and back to normal after it passes certain gear. I'm thinking it does this when down-shifting 4th to 3rd gear. Don't know what could have happened. I hope it's not the freakin' transmission like the one in previous model. Anyone with any idea as to why it does that? And if brought it up with the dealer, what do they say? Please shed some light. Thanks a bunch!

I do not know of a problem with a trany in TL, but i do know that some Acura tranys shift hard, which causes the jerk. '96-'97 Honda Accord had this problem BIG TIME. Its nothing bad, just not pleasant to have. 06 TL does have a RECALL!!!! Check with your local dealer if your car is one of them. This is the recall:

Defect Description:
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, ON THE FRONTAL AIRBAG SYSTEM WHERE THE TWO EXTERNAL IMPACT SENSORS IS MOUNTED, NEAR THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS THE FRONT IMPACT SENSOR BOLTS WERE NOT PROPERLY TORQUED.

IF THE BOLTS LOOSEN OR FALL OUT, THE SENSOR MAY FAIL TO PROPERLY DETECT A CRASH, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN DELAYED OR NON-DEPLOYMENT OF THE FRONT AIRBAG INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY.

Corrective Action:
DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REMOVE THE BUMPER AND RETORQUE THE LOOSE BOLTS. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON NOVEMBER 10, 2005. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009 AND ACURA AT 1-800-382-2238.

I think it automatically senses you breaking and downshifts for you if you aren't using the sport shift to save you some break wear. Thats what the jerking back may be. I notice it mostly when breaking down hills.
