Please help.....

I have a 99 TL. Yesterday when I was driving NORMAL I noticed when the rpms were climbing slowly between 2-3000 rpms the car started to sputter almost as if Im running out of gas. Its done this in the past but I got a CEL and it was my O2 sensor at the cat that was faulty. I mean it was identical to that, but im not getting a CEL. Also when I came to a stop all of a sudden my rpms were purging up and down from 800 to 1500 rpms. Now today, its not doing it no more. Today its running fine. I at least would like a CEL to come on so I can read it to be sure what the problem is. I know that the wires coming from the O2 sensors are very sensible. If they are twisted enough it will cause this problem, but they look fine. Please help.

Possible EGR is clogged.

o2 sensor would give you a code and it will not behave as erratic jumping rpm, and now got back to normal. That behavior, I guess, either egr issue or electrical ground issue, otherwise you would have consistent problem.

I know its probably the O2 sensor, not the sensor part, but the wires. I've put a new O2 sensor on in the past and as soon as I put it on and drove it, it was doing exactly what its doing now. So the outcome was when I screwed it on my cat the wires twisted enough to malfunction it and it threw a CEL, as I remember it said something about an electrical malfunction on bank 2, therefore I knew right away it had to do something with that O2 sensor. So the only obvious thing I seen was that the wires were twisted. So I untwisted them and never had that problem again......................until now. But I looked underneath my car and the wires arent twisted obviously, but maybe they're just damaged from last time. I just need to get a CEL so I can be sure.

Found it! What a bitch... It was the vacuum hose that connects to the intake tube................it was kinked. Its usually the smallest things that we never think about that can be the problem.
