It is a know problem in the 99 TL. What you can do is buy the 2002-2003 (I believe) stock radio which includes an in dash cd player and also plays burned cds. You just remove the one you have and pop in the newer one, still keep the stock look. Here is a link to remove the radio, http://abunchofcars.com/diy_pages/ot...er_console.htm

they make a screw driver called a impact driver that you hit with a hammer, that will lossen up the screw that you are talking about.

if you have damaged them beyond use you will have to drill them out

yeah, like fsttyms1 mentioned you may have to drill them out. but don't worry, they're not necessary for reassembly.

If they're not necessary for reassembly, why does Acura install them there to begin with?

2 hold them in place. They arent necessary. Most of my hondas ive discarded them and neve had issues. My tl is missing them on 1 front wheel due to them stripping out durring removal and ive never had issues. They are pointless imho. If they were there as a saftey/structural stand point they would be much bigger and made out of something other than brass

as fsttyms1 said, it's to hold them in place. i imagine the reason is because when the car is on the assembly line the rotors get put on well before the wheels and they don't want them falling off as it rolls along. plus it's just a nice touch for when you're putting your wheels back on so you don't have to futz with the rotor while you do it. but it's definitely not *necessary*, just nice to have.
