Peeling Paint

I'm looking at buying a 2003 TL Type -S. The rear black window frames have some sort of paint peeling/blistering going on. It looks like a plastic film, rather than just paint. Is this normal? Is there a quick fix?

Replacements?

Rick,
Thanks for the info. Is the window frame a plastic cover that you can purchase?
Do you know what causes it? (heat, washing, etc.)?

I'm still thinking about buying the car for other reasons, but I'd spend the $ to fix it if the cost isn't too much.

Thanks again!
Harry

Just take it to a paint shop & have them give an estimate to paint those & the B-pillars. That would be a permanent fix.

Re; Peeling Paint

Good news! The dealer was able to get the defect fixed as part of the Acura warranty.

Yeah but it'll happen again, I had mine fixed twice under warranty and it's happening again.

Thanks to all for the replies. The dealer (Mile High Acura) agreed to get the parts painted!

Painted and looks great

I finally got the side pieces PAINTED. It took the dealer 3 days to do it, but they did it at no charge and they look perfect. I'll check back in a year from now and see if the paint holds up.

you are lucky then...those side pillars are about $50 each for new ones! mine look like crap - but it has been 7 years and over 100k miles I need to get new ones soon though, so they wont look so bad next to my new sweet tint! 30% sides and 18% back...very nice
