I am a proud owner of a 02 TL, however the passenger side air bag shutoff light randomly flashes. Sometimes it will act right for a week or so, until someone sits in in it, then for the next few days it will keep flashing while I'm driving. Does anyone have any ideas where to check wiring or any other possible fixes. I really would hate to have to replace it as I am sure it is quite expensive.

 

Call Acura Customer Care 800-382-2238 and see if you car is covered by the SRS service bulletin. Acura is replacing faulty components on their nickel.

 

call acura for sure and register your car by VIN- tell them about the light and they will say call the dealer -dont sweat it when the dealer says 100$ diagnosis fee- you wont end up paying that

There is a special extended warranty on the SRS system 10 year 150k miles

In normal operation- if you place an object like a water bottle- bucket of KFC- laptop etc on the passenger seat, the weight detector thinks something is wrong and triggers the SIDE airbag light
Also drunk friends leaning on the window or layed way back in the seat will set it off.
If the SRS light itself comes on- thats real trouble- but covered by warranty

the safety systems are supposedly covered for 10 years.
Acura will be the best bet to tell you exactly whats covered and for how long. good luck, let us know what happens.
