I have an 03 Acura TL Type S. My VSA light came on while driving on the freeway, going about 60-65 mph, along with the check engine light, then the triangle exclamation point shortly thereafter. I pulled over, got on here and I read people have shut down their engine let it rest, And the light turned off automatically. I reset my check engine light and all was well. A few days later it turned back on and I payed better attention to how the car was driving. I did not notice any spike in rpm’s while driving, no shifting issues, no change in how it drives, nothing noticeable anyway.
I have done a lot of needed maintenance on this car since the last owner did not care to do a lot of maintenance that was necessary. The first thing I did was an oil change. I filled up the tank and noticed my gas mileage was ridiculous! I changed the coils and spark plugs and now I get 310miles per tank. Back to normal. I will be Doing a timing belt service soon as well along with the water pump, so I’m not sure if needing this would cause this issue.
I did notice that the 3 times driving it on a cold start, upon reaching the first stop sign or red light, the car seemed to “act” as in neutral and would not go unless I put it in reverse and then drive again. This is the only issue I have found. I have cleaned the upper solenoid, there was nothing clogging the three screens. I will be going for a transmission oil change and I read mixed reviews about using OEM tranny fluid vs. A/M. Advice on that would be great too. I will be cleaning the lower solenoid, or replacing it if needed, after the fluid change.
I have provided A picture of the code given from a scanner, but not too sure what needs to be done since most of the other posts I have read on here have different issues than what I am experiencing and don’t want to replace something I don’t have to.
I do all of my own repairs, except fluids, so any help is appreciated.
