Malfunction Indicator Lamp flashes and goes away

I've got a 2004 TL 6sp MT, 158K. I've had her for 2 months and changed the oil for the first time yesterday. I also replaced the spark plugs. It ran great after the fixes yesterday but this morning after the engine was cranked the MIL came on and flashed for a few seconds and went away. It didn't come back on while driving and everything felt fine and smooth driving. Just curious if anyone's had similar issues or suggestions as this is the first time the MIL has come on since I've had it. Will post an update later today as to whether it comes back on. I'm going to hook up the computer when I get home as well to see if there's a code sitting in there. Thanks!

Just to clarify, are you talking about the engine light, or the oil light?

If the MIL never comes back, nothing to worry about.

Did you use anti-seize on the plug threads?

I'm talking about the engine light. No I didn't use anything on the threads, I just removed and replaced them. Ill be posting back in the next couple hrs to update after I drive again and hook the computer up at home. Like I said, it was the first time I've had it come on while the car was running. I didn't know if it could be something that simply needs reset after the oil change and spark plug change or if there's a new error because of the change. Thanks again guys!

If you didn't use A-S as per the SM, I'd make sure you torqued the plugs to 18-21 ft-lbs. (assuming you used NKG OEM plugs...).

I wouldn't sweat anti seize on plugs. I've never used it, and I've never had an issue. A flashing cel is an indication of a misfire. Maybe you have a soft set coil? Just make sure all the connectors for the coils are snug. And they are actually NGK, not NKG, just saying because I've seen you post on other threads and calling them nkg's....

You miss my point. Torque spec changes depending on if using anti-seize or not.

I'd always recommend following SM procedures (anti-seize and 13 ft-lbs). You're probably fine not using anti-seize, but be sure that you used the increased torque spec recommended by NGK (got it right this time ) for installing their plugs with no anti-seize (18 - 21.6 ft-lbs.), especially with the history the J32A3 has with spark plug "blowout".

Spark plug blowing out has nothing to do with lack of torque. That's why it's always cylinders 2 or 5. And it's most of Hondas newer j series not just the 32. Accords, pilots odyssey. I've noticed the spark plug tube seal is usually blown out and leaking oil into the cylinder causing the sparkplug to back out.

I'm still waiting for your proof to back that up....

and I never said it was restricted to J32A3 engines..

Back what part up? Lack of torque?? Because I highly doubt the factory under torqued all j series from 2003 and up on only 2 cylinders. And it's not the customers coming in after they changed the plug. It's always original plugs in them. You want proof? Go to your local Acura/Honda dealer, grab a tech, and ask him. Guaranteed he won't say under torqued. I work on Hondas everyday, for the past 8 years(at a dealership), Monday through Sunday, at work and at home. My brothers 2005 TL spit out a plug at 80k. Guess what cylinder? I don't need proof, I see it almost every week.
