Overheating on trip
Overheating on trip
So I had to go somewhere this AM 2 hours away. About a hour and a 15 min into the trip my temp guage starting rising to about halfway. Stayed that way for another ten min. Then creeped up to about 75%. I pulled over and the temp started to go down slowly. Checked under the hood and the hose at the top of the radiator is hot. Hose coming out of the bottom is not hot at all. I have 160k. Timing belt a and water pump done at 92k. Any ideas?
clogged radiator
drain some fluid and look inside thru cap opening at slits
also test cap,,those fail all the time
How old is the coolant,,5 years MAX after first 105 service
you usually run 1-2 lines below half on temp?
the driver fan running when its supposed to?
runs more than 1-2 minutes after normal shutdown recently? = bad fan temp sensor
major cause of overheats in stop and go conditions

what am I the acura parts dept?
its called fan temp sensor `A`
screws into lower corner of rad (except 99s)
but the first issue is no temp at lower hose
is there flow thru the rad- observe with cap off
does it change with rpm increase to 2000--then let it down gently or it will backwash out the filler
drain on lower driver corner of rad--sample fluid

So I checked today while car was up to temp. Fan does cycle on and off every few min. But both fans are doing it. Is this suppose to happen. I'm changing that fan switch this weekend. And when fan does cycle on it doesn't blow as hard as it does upon engine shut down
both fans?,,NO!!
turn AC off,,retest
only driver fan cycles in normal temp operation
ac fan always runs to compensate for added heat of ac in front of rad
swap the fan relays with ones of same color
never noticed or heard different speed ..does the fan blade spin freely by hand?

Slow overheating on the highway is a textbook symptom of a radiator. It's usually the cooling fins corroding away from the tubes more than clogging or restriction. Also look in between the condenser and radiator for a layer of pollen type crap. [if so blow it out with compressed air] I suspect your fans will act normally when you take care of the first problem.
