Unhappy Over heating problem :( i need help

Alright guys i have a 2000 acura tl and like the title says it over heats and i have coolant overflowing from the overflow resevoir although when i drive it runs perfectly fine and doesnt get hot only when im in heavy traffic all of this starts happening... I changed the radiator, the hoses, the cap, took the thermostat out run the ac on high all the time because im in hawaii i made sure there is no leaks at all and when im in heavy traffic it still over heats please help guys!

Hey BrMright ......have the cooling system pressure checked and replace the thermostat with an OEM 2-stage.
The engineers have a reason and purpose for the T-stat.....which you removed. Perhaps the ECT sensor or cooling fan is bad ?

From your description, the car overheats in traffic (not moving). No overheating when the car is at speed, meaning air is being pushed thru the radiator. So the cooling system works if there is air movement thru the radiator. I would check to see if the fans are operating properly (and put in the correct thermostat - it's not the issue).

Both fans work properly thats what got me, my cooling fan turns on at temp, ac fan turns on when ac is engaged and cooling fan stays on when the car is off as normal

Yeah, ya never know....especially if everything else checks out ok.
Look for signs of any coolant leaking where the lower T-belt cover is.

Need to do a pressure test.. By the sound of it you got:

A) Stuck Thermostat < East and cheap fix
or
B) Bad water pump < Which you definitely don't want $$$ pray to god is something else

It does look like theres a leak where the lower t-belt is but it doesnt look like coolant it looks more like water i think that leak is from the ac compressor because i always have the ac on...

It may be one of your fans after all. My driver side fan would work intermittently which made it a bit of a pain to track down.

I had a very similar issue (took several thing being changed to figure it out) and it turned out to be a blown radiator fan motor (not the AC condenser fan). Double check and test the fan motors to confirm that they are functioning correctly.

Also, the thermostat needs to be an OEM!!!! I went to a local part store to get a replacement and it looked completely different and did not fit. Luckily, my OEM t-stat was still operating properly because it was kicking in the AC condenser fan when the rad fan did not come on to try and prevent overheating even when the AC was not running. Once I replaced the rad fan assembly, all was fine again!

Both fans should come on whenever you have the a/c on. Check this first.

It's worth a shot if all else has failed. Check the cooling fan's thermosensor switch and coolant level inside the rad.
Also make sure that the cooling fan is running at full speed and not sluggishly spinning.

Missed the title....
Put the thermostat in.. There is a reason why they exist and why they still havent been removed fron the design.. Look it this way: The Bugatti Veyron has a t-stat, Why your car doesnt?

Yeah, ya gotta resolve this issue....otherwise ya risk cooking your motor. It's a lot cheaper to try the simple stuff first if it's not already too late. T-stat, sensor & fan !!!

One of my old Dodge Daytona Turbos did this same thing, and everything checked out.
The cooling fan ran when it was supposed to. Then one day I was checking it out again and accidently hit the cooling fan with a tool. The fan immediately started running about twice as fast......Replaced the fan and never had the problem again

I know this might be a dumb question but are the fans supposed to be blowing towards the motor or towards the radiator? Because when i stuck my hand in which i know im not supposed to it was blowing towards the motor

The radiator fan draws air in through the radiator from the front of the car, the same way air naturally flows through when the car is in motion, otherwise the air flows would be fighting each other when the car is motion. And, yeah, the air does flow towards the motor, but the main cooling comes from air flowing through the radiator.

I see okay so the fans are blowing the right direction...and one last thing i found out i had my radiator cap off and left the car running and i noticed there is like a never ending scheme of tiny bubbles coming up to the top of the radiator when ever i top it off?

Apparently the cooling system has some air trapped within it.

Try "burping" the system by leaving the cap off while the motor's running and up to temp with the cooling fan activating. Increase the rpms a bit with the heater set on high, then shut the motor off....let cool and top off the rad and reservoir. A new rad cap may not be a bad idea also.

Hopefully the previous overheating that ya experienced didn't cause head gasket issues.
