NGK Spark Plugs

About to replace my spark plugs. Lat time I used NGK Iridiums. When searching for new ones I see Iridium IX, Iridium Laser, & Platinum Laser as suitable for the car per the auto parts store web sites. Which are th best plugs for this car? ('03 TL-S automatic). Thanks.

The NGK Iridium IX.

When doing the plugs get a little bit of lube for the threads before installing will help out in the future if you need to remove them. About a buck at the auto parts counter.

Note: Only apply to the threads nothing else.

Just keep in mind that the ix plugs are a 60,000 mile plug, while the laser platinum and iridium plugs are 100,000-120,000 mile plug.

My current Iridium Ix's have been in for ~100k miles. No issues, but certainly time to replace them. 2nd timing belt change coming shortly after the 1st of the year, as the car has ~216k miles on it.

Most folks are led to believe that today's cars will go 100k with minimum PM.

With the newer technology, that's usually true for the first 100k, but after that..... the operating conditions tend to go downhill and require more attention for optimum performance past the original 100k.

reduced maitenance schedules were made to appease the government

read them carefully and note than most who drive on Earth fall into the `severe service` schedule, which cuts times/miles down about half = to what they really should be

With 216k already on the odo and having done no significant maintenance (other than routine stuff and a tranny rebuild), I'm not too concerned. Plugs will be changed, timing belt replaced one last time and routine maintenance will be performed till the car dies or I just get tired of it. It owes me nothing, yet I still enjoy driving it and not making care payments.

How many miles approximately do ya drive yearly ?
Do the plugs ever appear worn or anything abnormal causing you to replace them yearly ?

Or.....is it "just because ya can" ???
