oil on top of engine??

oil on top of engine??

so i decided to paint the engine covers today...unscrewed eveytin only to find oil on underthe plastic...now im not sure whats whats under the plastic....but tell me if somtin is wrong here or if its koo..doubt it but all input is welcomed...damn i feel like i shouldve never opened it...here are som pics

why is this engine not aggresive lookin


no silver plastic on: oil all over


under silver plastic: whats with alll the black ash lookin things


the seal: holes i guess give air to somwhere...notice the pattern....idk


whats ulev...non type s?

Oil in there is normal. Thats not inside your engine so nothing should look aggressive there. Not sure what would look aggressive either??

ULEV Type-s dont get that rating. Google it.

Your engine bay needs some work. Please clean it before you post pics of your new painted engine cover.

What color are you going with?

Ohh! suggestion, since you're already painting it. I took that whole intake manifold off yesterday and spraywed the whole thing down with cab cleaner. there was so much soot and buildup, and after everything was cleaned out, the car started up much better, and felt alot better on the drive

did they change the manifold in 02??....because i seen cars with the cover around but not the middle....and i guess mine HAS to hav the middle cover on..

ummmmmm....not done yet...your getting ahead of me here..and at first i thought lgm...same as my car color....but now im thinkin its tooo tacky...lgm in the bay will look like




what ya think? what goes with lgm?

the metal piece im holding up is that the egr gasket???
i saw two threads in there for 99....engine looks different..my car is 00

edit: i just took a look at 02-03....seems to match.. but kinda lost....was my manifold swapped b4 i bought it...or depends on the package bought at dealer...whats the deal on that....

Only the 99 had a different intake manifold. (its not a cover)

it all makes sense now....goodlooking..so you think lgm car lgm cover...gotta see it then huh..welll im gettin my car touched up this weekend....so ill tell him to do it...with that same paint..and if i dont like always could repaint.. .............wait...did my car come from cali??

all that gunk in the manifold is rediculous...needs a wash asap..wish i new what i was doing yesterday wouldve done it den and dere...but it will get done next free free i hav...

you can take it off, or you can leave it. when i cleaned mine. i left it there and sprayed it down. but if you want to be on the safe side. take it off first . then you wouldnt have any regrets. it's your intake temperature sensor.

I have a '99 and I left mine on when I seafoamed the intake!
