Oil pump?

So took my car in for an oil change to the stealership, too cold to do it myself. Anyway during inspection they said I need motor mounts and an oil pump. Now not worried about the motor mounts as I can do that myself. But how about the oil pump? Where is it located? Difficult job to do? I'm waiting right now for these guys to give me their outrageous price quote. I'll update soon

have to drop the subframe and then oil pan, finally the oil pump
lots of labor

What did they base this on? ckd actual oil pressure with live scanner or installed external guage?
Or your oil hadnt been changed in a year and was bad news?
Any noise from engine,,knocking ?

you can replace the entire engine for less than they want!
IF you have a real oil pump/low pressure issue its screwed up many parts inside
toss that thing in the recycle pile

I dont believe the oil pump is located inside the oilpan. I thought it should be above where the oil filter is. Otherwise how could there be oil pump leak if it was inside the oilpan. Here is the part diagram. I think it is right behind the crankshaft pulley. If you look at the seals kit, there are about 3 to 4 seals.

Doh! you got me,,,at least the year is almost over and my mistake count resets

So used to thinking of oil pickup tube inside oil pan- pan gets hit and pickup damaged...

The oil pump does appear to be on the front of the engine, like it belongs,, and is located on most every car I have ever worked on, duuuuuh

Where they could trace a leak to it--may remove a cover to see clearly,
or know that ~if oil drips here it always came from there~

If true its important
Are you due for a 105 tbelt service?

Gurus of engine externals: HELP!
What does the OP need to do for access and replacement?,,guessing a 105s labor + some pump r&r labor and the absurd cost for pump itself, plus motor mount w/trans installed , a few hours for that,,, = 1700

do they have a weep hole-- similar to water pump, to indicate internal seal or shaft bearing failure?

I wouldn't do anything unless the pump housing is leaking oil. (Ours is)

The gasket/screen costs only a few dollars from Acura, I just bought one but have not yet installed it. Two bolts (near the oil filter) to access it.

Yeah, for sure get a second opinion if you do not have any drips.
