Oil Pan Removal

So on Wednesday I finally decided to find the source of my oil leak (its been happening for a couple of days) I went under the car and noticed that it was coming from the where the oil pan mounts to the block.

I thought it was going to be pretty easy but, boy was I wrong. At first I thought that I could undo all the bolts and slide it over the exhuast pipe. Of course I was wrong.

So I had to unbolt the exhaust pipe frpm the headers. And tried pulling it down. And of course that wasn't enough.

So I had to unbolt the o2 sensor, and that still wasn't enough. I pulled and tugged to get it down enough and finally it worked.

Then I scraped off all the old sealant on the oil pan and the block. I then used a high temperature silicone to reseal then put it back on. Such a pain in the ass.

I hope that you guys dont have to do this, but if it does just remember all the shit that comes along with it.

I started working on it at 530 and didn't fiish until 130 in the morning.

What is the difference? I talked to the guy at the dealership and he said that using a high temp silicone or RTV would be just as good as what they use. Is it because it was made specifically for that part or something. I'm pretty sure it will be fine I haven't had a leak since I did that.
