Oil change - 4 quarts = full??

I changed my oil over the weekend and notice something. When I pour out the oil into an empty gallon of milk, it only fill half way!!? Last time I did my oil change, I bought a big bottle of Mobil 1 Synthetic oil from Walmart and put the whole bottle in there. Why am I only getting out half a gallon of oil when I'm draining? Also when I fill up my oil after 4 quarts, the dipstick is 3/4 full. I check the dipstick twice. I would expect to pour in 5 quarts. I spill a tiny bit of oil and my old shirt suck up some oil too, but I dont think it suck up 2.5 quarts of oil.

Things I like to add is I have seafoam my twice in the last 2,500 miles. I put 1 can in the fuel, 1 in the crankcase, and 1 in the vac line. The second time, I put 1 in the crankcase and 1 in the vac line. I didnt put in the fuel because I had a full tank.

Is there something wrong with my car?

Did you check the oil level before you drained the crankcase? Either you're burning oil or you didn't add enough the last time you did a fill. If you're only getting 2 quarts out but filling with 4 quarts there's a problem somewhere.

I didnt check the oil level prior to do a oil change. It was never an issue in the past. I'm pretty sure the last time I change my oil, I pour the whole big bottle of Mobil 1 Synthetic oil I bought from Walmart. This time I only put 4 qt. because the dipstick show that it's 3/4 full. I will check the dipstick again later today.

You need more than 4 quarts. A full drain should be 4.7 qts. Most just add the full 5qts. If your only getting 2 quarts out of your motor you have SERIOUS issues.

Fill the oil to the Full mark (not somewhere in between) and drive it for a few few days monitoring the oil level. Keep checking it to see if its going down/using/burning it. I dont see how you could have only 2 quarts and no oil light or vtec not working, not to mention serious valve tick

you sound like you need to be getting your oil changed by an expert...one time you put this much in, another time you put this much in....see what i am getting at here...you need to know exactly how much goes in...1/2qt too much is worse than being short 1/2qt...either way, you need to pay more attention to detail or let someone else do your oil changes...

I just check the dipstick again and it's about 3/4 full. I will add the last bottle and monitor the oil level. Initially when I pour in the new oil, the color is very light. Now it looks a little bit darker like the old oil is still in there. Does lowering my car have to do anything with this? When I change my oil, I usually drive up this little ramp on the curb outside my house.

Where on the dipstick is the oil level reading? Is it still between the two dots?

The oil picks up contaminents in the system and passes them to the filter. With the recent amount of seafoam I am not surprised there is dirt already showing- its actually a good sign- oil that never gets dirty is not doing its job.
If you were driving around with seafoam in the oil- twice, for 2500 miles is that correct?
and now finally changed oil , its possible the oil ring was getting scrubbed clean too much and letting oil blowby- maybe thats the source of your huge white clouds too.

Since the drainplug is at the back of the pan- unless you were pointed nose downhill, lowered car does not matter.

The 1st time I did the seamfoam, I didnt put it in my crankcase because I didnt need to change my oil then. Last weekend, I put the seafoam in there. Maybe when I didnt turn off the car after putting seafoam into the crankcase last weekend, it burn the oil off?

if your oil level is inbetween the marks on the stick then its within tolerance...but its ok to add to the top line...usually the distance between marks is one qt of oil...dont add a full bottle if your 3/4 of the way between the marks..add, check, add, check...

Top it off and get it to the full line. then keep monitoring it over the next week or 2 to see if its actually burning it.

i think its just mobile 1 synthetic. i had did an oil change with mobile 1 synthetic and poured 5qts in my car and drove it for about 3500 miles. And when i checked the dipstik, it was super low( between the first dot and the bottom).
iono wtf went wrong there but that has never happened. Before i switched to mobile 1, ive been using royal purple and its never been low. I just did an oil change last month and my oil level is on the second dot like it should be.
I might be wrong about this idea but you should try using another brand

shouldnt be any thing wrong with the M1. I run 15k intervals and i never use enough to get to the add line.
