No Fan - Climate Code 88
Lemon 2001 Acura TL 3.2 with 5 trans
Bridgewater, NJ
Problem started few weeks ago, I noticed the AIR would just stop for a second or 2, then go back on. AIR=fan would just stop, it is the summer time so mostly from AC running.
Yesterday it stopped and still hasn't come back on, tried manual control on all speeds with nothing. I don't hear the compressor kicking on or off when I try to turn the maual AC control on/off through the Nav system manual control.
Checked the fuse, it looks ok, didn't get a chance to check it with an ohm meter yet.
Few questions I have after scanning google and forums archives:
I'm getting Code 88 from holding the auto-off buttons
1. what could this be
2. where is the blower motor so I can check it
3. where are the relays or other fuses not in the fuse panel I can check on my own, rather not pull the dash apart.
4. minus going on my 5th trans, I rather not dump lot more money, recommendation as to whether I should even bother or just get rid of the car, approxs cost to fix this through dealer or repair shop?
thanks,
-steve

I had a similar problem with my 99 TL at the beginning of summer. The problem was the transistor pack that controls the fan speed. I replaced it and the fan because it usually goes bad when the fan starts going bad.
Both the transistor and the fan are below the glove box and easy to replace.
go to http://www.hondapartsunlimited.com/s...omp=List%20All the transistor is item 3.
Good luck

the fan is located behind the glovebox. You can see the bottom of it by sticking your head under the dash. Check that the harness to the fan is connected/ not burnt.
