No dash lights, windows wont work and car wont start, ignition switch?
Im having a new series of electrical problems with my 99 TL. Just 2 nights ago i went to start the car and it wouldnt start, it was turning over though, there was no lights on the dash. I left it alone for a dew mins and than it started perfectly fine. Last night it did the same thing, i tapped on the side of the fuse panel and it started. It did it AGAIN this morning heading to work, i banged the hell out of the upper steering column because i was mad and she started again! Im thinking somethings loose in that area, could it be a ignition switch? Thoiiboi if ur reading this, i did look this up, lol. Thanks in advance.

you know me too well.
no lights on the dash leads me to believe it's either a loose battery terminal but then banging on the steering column wouldn't help that. Ignition switch was part of a recall: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-p...ailure-690331/ did yours get it yet?
it MIGHT be the PGM-FI relay which is under the steering column.

but... with windows not working and such, that leads me to believe that it's not JUST the main /pgm fi relay.... possibly the positive cable from battery to fuse panel under hood or worse, the MICU in the kick panel is spazzing out/ not getting power for whatever reason. check for corrosion on terminals.

Sounds to me like a broken ground cable. (Very common)
Follow the negative cable from the battery terminal to the transmission, it may be detached or corroded.
Or you have a dead battery

I ran outside quickly on my break, i tugged the battery cables while i had the key in the on position, and nothing. But it does look like someone was under the steering column, i saw loose screws and such. Now i guess im standed at work. What are the chances of this being a bad ignition switch? Since that seems like the easiest fix and probaly what it might be. I dont know if the ignition switch has been replaced on this car before.

I mean.. i GUESS a faulty ignition switch can lead to no power on dash because car doesn't see it in ACC mode.
I don't have the wiring diagrams of the 2G unfortunately so will have to wait for Erick for that

Quick test : Put the key in position II then wiggle the key back and forth without getting it out of position II, See if the dash light come on. If they do then its the ignition switch for sure. 99 TL common issue other years were not as bad.

Tried the key wiggle and no start, i tugged the bottom steering cover and the dash lights came on and the car started. Im thinking it is the ig switch or maybe a loose wire. Any help is still appreciated.

My tcs light and abs light even went off, god i feel like im driving a new car. I guess that big brown connector plays a very important role in our cars. Thanks again.

Loose connectors are generally not ideal

Hey guys just an update, my mechanic was able to reset the airbag computer and car starts. He said that the transmission codes P0962, 0966 and 0970 are looking like is caused by low oil which he said it is low on ATF.
car is low by 3 quarts and the brake switch light is more than likely causing the transmission lights to blink. The scanner wont let him reset the codes because of the brake light which is being replaced right now. He says he Hope is not a internal issue.
I hope this experience helps others out there needing the same help out there. I will keep you all informed

By chance, would anyone happen to have the wiring diagram for the ignition switch of an '04-'06 TL, specifically '05? I have a dead dash but the car runs when started. I'm assuming it's not reading the ignition in position 2. Also, I'm new to this, but if I need to make a separate thread for this, please let me know.
