New TL Owner

What's going on Everyone,
So I bought my 99 acura Tl for some street owner, little did I know that he screwed me. The car never had an oil change nor a tranny flush, the shocks are destroyed and so are the rotors. On top of that the ball joints on each side needed to be replaced along with the upper control arm for both Driver and passanger sides. Today I am going to take out the millennium lip kits and replace it with the factory Lips and remove the ugly ass dc rims this bastard put on them. Oh yeah he also lost the keylock for the rims and told me that it was in the trunk. Yeah that was a lie. Anyway I would like some suggestions on what I can do with the car

Seem to me you have a choice, keep it or dump it.

If you keep it, you get some service done and hope for the best.

I'd be change the tranny fluid, not flush it but do the 1 drain and fill. Not changing the fluid is crazy. The system is intended to run with good fluid.

See I had my boys mechanic check it out, but this noob didnt look at shit..... anyway, I took it in, got the ball joints+ upper control arm replaced, I took off the side lips, back lips and front bumper cuz it was all messed up, Changed the oil and drained the tranny fluid. Now hopefully this weekend im going to be the stock wheels back on becuz those dc's are horrid. i think next saturday I'm going to take it in again to get the brakes and rotors done too. I'll post Pics as soon as everything is done.

Let me give you an advice. If the the rest of the car is good, fix it and keep it; if it has some other issues, fix it and sell it. I really don't think someone else would buy it in the same conditions you did.

Like NEVER EVER had an oil change???

If that is 100% true then I would get rid of the car because I can only imagine the type of engine trouble you may run into.

Anyway back to your question...

For the shocks, that can lead you to just dropping the car. You can get coilovers if you have the money and if not you can get nice shocks and springs.

For the rotors, look around and you can get a deal on them. Also if you get rotors then replace the brakes as well so you can have a completely fresh start.

For the lock, I would say that you would have to go to Acura for that one and hope that they have a universal lock for it and if not then just break/cut it off with a dremel.

For the tranny fluid, replace it if the shifts are hard or rough and if not then do it down the road.

P.S. Welcome to the boards and good luck!!

For the suspension issue, I would just drop it rather than doing the OEM again.
As for brakes, I would consider buying a completely new setup and start off fresh Try Racingbrake.com

Didn't you get a carfax report for service records before you even considered buying? And if you dont mind me asking, how much was paid for the car?

Also, check the black market on here and try to find some good deals on rims, and many other parts.

Other than that, welcome to the boards and enjoy your car!

You will periodically be replacing your transmission. Check out the tranny failure thread. I sold mine 2 weeks ago and am soooooo happy. No disrespect intended I loved my TL it is one awesome car except for the tranny.
