New Issue After Rebuild 2003 AT

AT finally went at 150K, I have been driving the car for 10 years since 30K. It is a 2003 Base TL, original transmission. Car has been serviced by the book and had all recall work done. Transmission fluid changed at (I think by memory) 75k and 120K. Started shifting very hard (no warning signs) and in less than two days, broke an axle. Both mechanics who looked at it think the tranny shifting so hard broke the axle (which was quite worn). I took the car to a well respected Honda shop who rebuilt the tranny. Now, two out of three days since getting the car back, when I start the car in the morning, it takes a couple or three seconds or so for drive to engage when I shift from park into D5. It's like the car is in neutral for a short time. This car never did this before, it always went right into drive in a second or less. Also, when I get to the end of my street (maybe 75 feet) and brake at the stop sign, it has slipped back into neutral, even though the gear selector is still in D5. I come to a stop and move the shifter, it'll go back into 1st and I can drive off. Otherwise, the car runs and shifts fine at slow or fast speeds, driving it easy or hard. Seems to be only when I start in the morning when the car is cold (although it's not been overly cold, in the 20's/low 30's). Of course, when I brought it back today, the mechanic could not replicate the behavior. The mechanic told me to be sure to let it warm up 20 - 30 seconds, I should not expect to drive off "instantly". I'm not convinced this is normal, but I'll probably bring it back and leave it with him so he can start it cold and see what's up. Wondering if anyone has an idea on what may cause this. I am confident the shop will stand behind their work, but if I have some info to go in with, it might help.
