New guy on board :) I also brought a error code :P

Hey what's up everyone. I just bought myself my first "import" a 2000 3.2 TL and so far it's been a pretty nice ride.

I noticed the check engine light so I bought a obd2 scanner because I've wanted one for a while anyways.

p0141 02 sensor heater circuit malfunction (bank 1 sensor 2)

Where exactly is this sensor located? Just before the cat? And how hard is it to reach, I wouldn't mind trying to fix it myself.

Any specific brand that is better?

Thanks for any responses and I'll be checking out your rides

Welcome to the forum

That sensor is the Rear o2 sensor. The one on the cat. With the car jacked up and supported properly its very easy to get to.

I would replace it with the oem unit
Use this link, look under exhaust.

I finally did the job today. It was actually pretty simple.

The check engine light is still on and my reader is still getting the same code. I'm waiting to see if it clears up after some driving.

Are there any other things that could trigger this code?

Thanks

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe you have to disconnect/reconnect the battery in order to reset the computer.

you can pull fuse 12 in the passenger footwell- marked clock
its the ECU backup power supply
or disconnect the neg battery cable for a few minutes- make sure you have the radio and nav security codes before doing the battery method
If you dont know the security codes for certain- use the fuse method to reset the computer

just a heads up= codes are not diagnoses- they are CLUES to the problem

I reset the code with the obd2 scanner but when the scanner is unplugged the light comes back on.

The car came with the owners manual so I have the code for the radio. I figured that out because the positive terminal kept jumping off after I bought the car

I cut the ends and put on a new connection and that's all good now

I'll give the fuse a try too just to see if it helps any and I'll let you guys know.

Could the code be for the sensor after the cat?

I did the one before the flex pipe I believe. If there's one further down I can do that one too, no biggie.

The fuse trick did the same as the obd2 scanner. Engine light goes away at start but comes back in about 3 seconds and same error code.

Replace the 2nd one. The one in the cat. That will clear that code.

Hey sorry for the wait but we got the sensor installed about last week and the light went away for good after we cleared it with the reader. This sensor was seized on a little so it took more effort but at least the plug was easier to get too.

Believe this or not but I just came home after work and got another engine light. This time p1457 and it isn't in my book so I'm gonna read about what it could be.

Thanks for your time guys.

So from what I'm reading on the forum it's either my gas cap is faulty or something with the evap system.

I cleared the code for now and it didn't come back but I'll checked again tomorrow.

Should I replace the gas cap just to be sure?
