Hello! I'm looking for brand recommendations for an entire Front Strut assembly. I saw a few threads where KYB was recommended, but they don't make a complete assembly. For ease of the repair I'm not wanting to go have the spring compressed and all that. I'd rather undo the 7 bolts and pull the old one out and replace it with the new one. I'm stuck on brands, however. RockAuto has a few assemblies made by FCS and Gabriel, then Shockwarehouse.com has Gabriel and Unity. I've not heard of any of these brands before. OEM would be ideal, but Honda parts only sells the parts separate. Any advice on what brands to go with? I'm planning on keeping the car for another year or 2, but then I think it will only be valued for scrap after that. I would REALLY REALLY like to get my nice ride back.. I can hear waaay too much of the road as it is. It's deafening.

 

If you're dead set on full assemblies then just get whatever RockAuto has and live with it. KYB is superior and OE quality but it's understandable that people may not want to deal with that hassle.

 

What about buying the full OEM strut assemblies?

Edit: Speaking strictly for myself, if/when I need new struts on my 2006 6MT, I'll probably go full Type-S. Here is the parts and price list (from last year) I came up with to switch my car to a Type-S suspension (which, oddly enough, is less expensive than the 6MT suspension):
