New acura owner> help please.

hey guys, just pickedup my 2002 tl type s from a dealer. so i drove it around the afternoon, but around 5/6 hours after i picked it up, i noticed the flashing d5 green on the dash, without knowing anything, i kept driving. so when i reach home, i took some rest, got change and start my car again, but i didnt see the flashing d5 again, however when i stopped at a grocery store and turned the car on again, i saw the d5 flashing. As of last time i turned the car on, the d5 has been vanished, and i am not sure if it will come back again or not. if anybody experienced the same ,please let me know the requirement to fix this problem, thank you very much.

Bring it back to the dealer you got it from. Flashing D5 usually means the trans is about to die, but it can also be other things like a faulty ATF temp sensor.

A good ballpark estimate for a transmission replacement is $3,000 to $4,000.

How many miles are on the car?

There's a 109,000 mile/7 year 9 month extended warranty on the transmission that should still be in effect if you're under the mileage limit. (An exception is that salvage title cars are not covered.)

Acura has also offered goodwill coverage to many out-of-warranty cars. Check out the "Tranny Failure Thread" in the "Problems & Fixes" forum.

Take the car back to your seller, and make the most of it's 30-day warranty.

i am frm canada so ya, the car has 169xx km, 2002,tl s type. so ya i took it to the nissan dealer and they said they will look at it and try to fix it, and i am nt sure if this something fixable widout relplacing a new tranny. they car was acting weird when i was driving to the dealer, it was up n downshifting when i least wanted . i really liked the car, but my dad is suggesting my get my refund, which i will have to do, if they charge me anymoney for the repair.

the trans is done...demand that they replace it or give you you money back...there is no fix besides replacement with an updated trans from acura...

ok heres the updated story., so i took it to the nissan dealer and they said they will take a look at it, after 1 hour i get a call and he says its temperature sensors problem, which iwasnt sure about but when i get off frm the car, its gets pretty hot from the side and the so does the wheel, so i kinda thought it was legit for him to say that. and top of that i went to the acura dealer and they looked into my vin and said i already passed that 93 months warranty but i argued with them coz my car was under 175 km. but i dont know what they tried to make me understand, so i left and now waiting for the nissan guys to call me tommorow

Unless you are absolutely convinced that any and all problems are resolved, I would return that car while you still can. Remember that the dealer has a vested interest in dragging this out past the 30 warranty limit. At that point it becomes your problem.

Also, it's surprising that a 2002 TL could have passed the 93 month limit on the extended warranty. What was the original in-service date for the car? (Acura can tell you that.)

Check the sticker on the passenger side or maybe driver side door .The tickers should has a production date on it and that was the day Acura put the sticker on and deliver to
the dealer .

F that...30 day warranty is a 30 day warranty. Tell the dealer he can shove that broke TL up his ace...

No way would I settle for anything less than a refund- or full compensation for OEM replacement installed at an Acura dealer- if the trans is crapping out. Dont let that place screw you over man.

cant fucked up my dads business for my 10 grand tl men, these nissan guys own satrus, kia, hyndai and a used mix up vechicle dealers, and we have a written agreement with our gas station, everycar they sell, they bring it our gas station to fill it up b4 giving it to the customer, in return we give them 3 or 5 cents discount, nt sure which. but my dad has spoke to the dealers main boss, he said he will look into the car and see wht it needs.

I don't know if there's a connection. What sensors are involved?

What's the Nissan dealer's position on the car now? Do they plan to fix the sensors?

Do you have any idea where the sound is coming from?
