Need your help again. 99tl stall.
Ok, I have a 1999 TL.
Today I was sitting at a stop light and the engine started to stutter, then it stalled out.
For a few minutes it would not start. It turned over strong, but would not start. I waited about 10 minutes and tried again and it started.
I then went through the same thing two more times before I got home. This is the second time in about 3 months that this has happened.
It acts like there is no fuel and when it does start it acts like it is barely getting any fuel then it finally gets up to normal RPMs then it drives fine.
I replaced the key switch about a year ago. But this is nothing like the key switch problem. There it would completely turn off but you could start it right back.
Does anyone know where the fuel filter is on this car? Do you think that a clogged filter could be slowing the flow of fuel?
I read in another thread that if your key wasn't recognized that the fuel pump would not run, could this be a possibility?
Could the fuel pump be over heating? It seems like things got better today after the car sat and cooled down for about 10-15 minutes?
I have no clue what this issue could be. People on this forum have been extremely helpful in the past. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
If there is anymore information that you need just ask. I don't know what to put down because I'm not sure what might be helpful information and what isn't.
Thanks.

we dont have an old-school type fuel filter
Instead we get a filter `sock` over the fuel inlet in the tank- before the fuel pump
doesnt get replaced in normal operation
some good fuel cleaner will help it
there have been 2-3 reports on here recently of fuel pump RELAY being bad or solder connection under it was bad
all the normal things ck'd?
plugs are correct and good? use 91 octane, seafoam or redline in the gas?
have you cleaned the egr port and passage system inside the intake manifold?
99s had a recall to do that, and install a smooth bore in the 8mm hole- but it didnt stop the prob,,the next years engine has 6 ports...
Its critical to do, needed every 75kmiles on later years,,a 99, do it now
can make car do really strange things
simple diy,,2 hours at a casual pace, clean throttle body/iacv and lube cables while you have it apart

I have cleaned the EGR port in the last 10K miles. I also replaced the EGR valve at the same time.
I have seafoamed the intake 6 months ago. I use 91 octane fuel.
How can I check the relay?
My symptoms are exactly the same as when I have had fuel pumps go out on other cars. Tries to start fine turns over strong, but never fires.
The only difference is that after 10-15 minutes the car starts normally.
Thanks for your response.

I thought that person was told it was fpr=$$$$,,
but it was really JUST a fuel pump relay
the dealer charged diagnostic and part install ~175$
so it cant be that hard !
ck here in gen2 for others with same prob, and the post about relay location and access
swap relay (power supply) with one of same color, or go buy 1 at parts store
