Need to reset computer after used engine installed?
Need to reset computer after used engine installed?
Sadly, my 2003 acura tl just died. The dealership did some testing and a compression test, which kinda worked since the engine wouldn't turn over. I was told that my engine was DOA!
I found a used engine...with the price of in and the cost of installation, I cant pass it up. My question now is, do I have to get the computer reprogrammed with an engine swap??

What is the donor motor coming from ?
What caused your original motor to be "DOA" ? Timing belt failure or extreme overheating ?
While I'm not 100% sure, I don't think the computer would know the difference if it was the same type of motor. If it came from a '99 or an "S" model, than maybe there would be a problem, IDK. Somebody else will chime in later to help you. IMO, the dealership should know.
