My engine light was on, bought it to the dealer, said it needs a new Range Switch for the transmission. What is a range switch? My tranmission was replaced 2 months ago, should this have happened if the tranny was new?

 

They may mean the selector control/shift selenoid
The electrics of it can get messed up if soda or something
spills in there, dirt and grime can cause problem too.

Whenever the dealer says something is wrong- ask them to explain exactly what they mean and how it was diagnosed.

If its the part I think- then not an internal part of the trans- so not replaced at the time- not part of extended trans warranty, if under 50k miles may be regular warranty

I will ask for the details when I pick up the car. It was covered under my extended waranty which is 100,000K or 6 years.
