need help! wont shift out of park

I need some help! 2000 acura tl, wont shift out of park, but you can put key in hole next to shifter to shift to neutral , start car and put into drive or reverse no problem. drives perfectly fine. just cant shift out of park normally. need ideal where to look or what maybe the cause??? thanks

It is likely your the switch located at the brake pedal. It activates the shift interlock solenoid so you can shift. It is pretty simple to change out

start with cking EVERY brake light bulb including the center one in rear window

but the switch may be loose or worn out at pedal, easy DIY
