Car shutting off issue but only after starting up

Hi Guys. Need some help.

Car: 2005 Honda Accord 4cyl 100k miles

Issue: Car turns off after full start up usually after being driven hour+. Typically when wheel is cut to pull out of parking space can you feel weakening and I have to give gas to keep it going as it hesitates.

Status of the car: Brand new spark plugs done 6 days ago. Battery and alternator less than a year old. Battery terminals look clean, no visible oxidation.

Pending item: air filter, and other recommendations

As stated if I'm doing a cold startup or just driving bumper to bumper, no hesitation. Only at that short period of time.

I would check IACV first.

Is the car automatic or MT? What happens if you give the car gas before turning the wheel in parking spaces?

Automatic. A straight pull back out of a spot has less hesitation. I have to test it more.

Sounds like fuel related to me... Clogged injectors or something of the sort.. But a cleaning of the TB/IACV shouldn't hurt either.

Any issues with low idle?

Use some Berryman's B12 in gas tank and get the cleaner to clean your TB

Agree with IACV. Sounds like the idle valve is sticking and isn't opening more to rev the engine up to compensate for power steering use. Does the same thing happen when you roll all the windows down at once?

Clean out or replace IACV, with 100k I'd just clean.

Could also be throttle position sensor and/or throttle body itself. Also clean off the MAP sensor.

Edit: Oh and if you just did the plugs, make sure you have all the coils seated and plugged in completely. Though not having that would be a misfire and should trigger the CEL...but still check it out. Also whenever you pull a coil, use some MAF sensor cleaner on the contacts to clean them up. Not required but good habit to have.

Unless you're consistently using crappy gas, clogged injectors are really a thing of the past. Modern gas has enough detergents and such in it to keep the injectors clean for the life of the injector. There are some DI engines (Toyotas specifically) that use an injector in the intake stream for the sole purpose of cleaning the valves and intake runner with the detergents in the gas. If the injector is failing, it's because the solenoid is failing and not that the nozzle is clogged.

Also, if the injector was failing, you'd be getting misfires that would trigger a CEL and not stalling under load.

In modern times and using good gas, the fuel treatments are a placebo at best.

No issue with low idle unless turning.

The way this engine uses the cover the only way to tighten the bolts is if the coils are seated correctly. Really no room for error.

I'll research how to clean IACV and see how that goes. Any tips on how to clean it? I have no experience with it? Thank you guys.

Give the Accord to your Ex as a form of Child support and you get a new car.

Win Win Win situation here. You get a new car, your paid your child support, and your Ex gets all the problems.

Take it out, soak in carb cleaner, and drain all the shit out. Repeat a bunch more times. On the last round, spray some WD40 in there and swish it around and drain that out to lube it for the future.

Make sure that the whole thing is very very dry before you reinstall, wait like 3 hours. You'll get a huge backfire and potential engine damage if you don't. Try not to use any brushes, soaking in carb cleaner and repeating will clean most of the gunk out.

I didn't watch this video but might be a place to start, look for others I'm sure they are easy to find:
