Need Help!
I just got my car back from the dealership today (I brought it in because of the SRS light), and guess what, my trans is no good. I talked to the service manager and he made a call to Acura. Acura said that they would cover some of the repair under good will and that I would have to dish out $2,000.
Here is where I need help. I have a third party warranty on the car. They do not want to deal with Acura. I’m assuming it is because of the cost associated with dealerships. They want me to go to a transmission shop and have the trans rebuilt. Doing this would almost completely take away any cost to me, but are these trans shops any good?
What should I do? All suggestions welcome.

Well if your warranty company is going to pay for it bring it somewhere else and dont pay for any thing. Other wise go back to the dealer, contact Acura client services and see if they will help cover any more of it.
How many miles on the car?

I'm not sure but I think that some owners of "non-covered" 2003 TLs have received full coverage for a failed transmission.
But if you can't get a better deal through Acura I would just let your warranty company cover it, as fsttyms1 wrote.
If you go that route, try to make sure that the rebulid outfit uses the latest parts. Acura made some design changes in February of 2005 that might have addressed the major reliability issues.
Good luck.

And they might even be more willing to go for that option if you can get Acura to cover more of the cost.
