Mysterious water on driver side floor board
Mysterious water on driver side floor board
First let me tell yall I have already done extensive research on these forums and google and no dice yet.
heres what i do know...
I placed white printer paper on the driver side floor(only place where water is btw). This will instantly show even the slightest drip of water.
I poured water all over the sunroof..specially front left. Nothing appeared on the paper. Instead water ran thru and drained in front of the left tire.
I poured water over the windshield wipers to see if the drains underneath the vent were clogged. No water on the paper.
ran the ac wide open for several minutes. No water on the paper.
ran the heat. Nothing on the paper.
i went and got the water hose and used it all over the driver door and again the sunroof and windshield. Paper dry.
there is where im stuck at...the driver floormat stays wet. Where is this freakin water comin from?
I am currently drying the carpet out again...unless the clog somehow magically fixed itself right before i ran these tests....
thanks for help.
edit...car stats. 2001 acura TL 224k miles. Runs like a champ.

So i left the white printer paper over night and this morning there was a golf ball sized watermark on the upper left sheet of paper...behind the emergency brake.
I guess some finally leaked down hours later, shrug.
so i got down there and looked up back behind the fuse box and sure enough...the brown sunroof drain hose was detached from the black connector leading to outside the cabin.
so there it is...i rotated the black connector upwards and with some effort got the sunroof drain hose somewhat back inside.
so now I got jb weld curing those pieces together. Im sure it will hold.
now drying everything. Bout a inch of water underneath the carpet....
if someone with the same issue wants to be more thorough they could replace the old sunroof drain hose with a shiney new one and probably get a better sealant to boot.
I just used what I had on hand if it doesnt work then Ill go through all that.
alright then....till next time

Update:
So I soaked up all the water underneath carpet and stuck a fan on it last night, left carpet up.
20 hours later after the JB weld had its time to fully transform...
I poured a couple cups water on the sunroof, watched the inside drain and nothing came out except this time there was a neat little line of drain water behind the front left tire.
turns out during those tests I did the water was coming in directly beneath the carpet thats why the paper remained dry. Ofc except for those couple late drip clues that lead me to the culprit.
So looks like simply rotating the bottom connecter back up and reconnecting the old hose with some help from good ol trusty jb weld ... did the trick.
