Morimoto 3five HID kit
Hi, all.
I recently purchased the Morimoto 3five hid kit for my 03 TL. I tried to install it yesterday but I hit a roadblock. The connector for the bulb doesn't fit through the OEM ballast opening in the bottom. The only two things I can think of to do is to cut the cap behind the bulb, or remove it. The obvious issue with this is that moisture can get In there as well as in the OEM opening. What have others done when installing this kit? Thanks in advance!

ck the diy section and use search for morimoto install in all of gen2 TL and CL (those guys are often ahead of us on mods)
A number of ziners love them so info should be on here somewhere!
do not remove or alter any bulb covers, do the offending wires have a cover?- removal of some of its cover will allow one to go thru at a time? or slightly enlarge the opening itself
reseal with silicone if you have to alter

Thanks for your reply. I've done a search but didn't turn up anything useful. Perhaps I didn't search correctly or something. The wire in question does have a large (1.5-2") grommet on it. I was just under the impression that I could install these with little modification short of splicing the harness.
this is how I did my '12 Kia Sportage

drill a hole large enough to fit the wires through the cap.
I believe the morimoto kit comes with little gaskets.

Using Epoxy, I then attached the rings to the inside of the stock caps, giving the material a bit more thickness:

So now, when the wires are passed through via the grommets, the top and bottom seal tightly against the material, but for good measure, I still applied plenty of silicone one the inside of the cap to ensure no water gets in:

1) bore out the hole in the bottom of the housing and then use the ballast's seal to seal it up
2) drill a hole in the housing cap behind the bulb and use the ballast's seal to seal it up
