Okay, my power steering tends to work just fine as long as I am moving, but to try and turn the wheel from a stopped position is very difficult. I hear no noise, or feel anything else through the wheel...Any ideas at all?? The mechanics see $$$$ when I walk through the door w/ no inkling!

 

well it could be a # of things. Bad rack, a PS pump thats not working as well, the variable assist unit not working correctly. Have you checked your fluid? Is it low? is it in good shape? Maybe try doing a flush.

 

My '99 TL kissed a mid-size SUV that decided to stop on the highway during rush hour in July and my steering has never been the same. (right front corner was damaged to the right front wheel) The body shop replaced the power steering reservoir and associated hoses due to a previous leak, but it still doesn't feel right.

In addition, I noticed that I am now using two hands to turn the wheel versus the nice steering that it had previously with a slight pull after taking a short 300 mile trip. I am open to ideas as the body shop is stumped although they are on the hook for fixing the problem. They have tripple checking the PS and alignment and state that all is OK.

How can I check to see if PS pump or the rack is having problems? The PS fluid level looks fine with the fluid circulating well and don't know where to look next.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.
