Moonroof wont slide back
Moonroof wont slide back
Hey guys I have a 2001 TL, havent posted in a while since its no longer my daily driver, only has had maybe 10,000 miles put on her in the past two years, and half of those is from my brother borrowing it
Anyways, a couple years ago the moonroof stopped sliding back. It tilts up and down just fine, but when I press the switch to slide back it moves a fraction of an inch starting to go down before its supposed to slide back. Its been like this for too long and want to get the roof open for summer time. Any ideas what to do or look for? Im not very mechanically inclined and want to bring it to a shop but maybe it just needs some WD40 or something to move? thanks guys

I'm not crazy mechanical either but have you checked the fuse for it? it could be blown. It's located on the passenger side, when you open the door theres a panel that you can pop off. and if its not that its possible that it could be the switch, I'd check that or just plain replace it. If you don't feel like you have the skill to fix it, I'm sure you could take it to a shop and they could help you out pretty quick.
Moonroof not sliding back....

Perhaps the glass slider retaining links along the sides are misaligned and causing it to bind. According to what you earlier stated, it appears that the motor is working and trying to move the glass. You could try checking the cables and the positioning switch located at the rear of the moonroof.
Hmm...I have no idea where to begin to lube that up! But like i said, it tilts fine and attempts to slide back so I dont think its the fuse, but Ill look when I get home from college next week! Its been collecting dust at my dads even though he drives it once a week to work, but Im sure he doesnt like it as much because he has a 09 TL!
