Missing Stereo Code
Missing Stereo Code
I have a 99 TL and recently had to fix my tranny. when the battery was disconnected obviously anti theft for the stereo kicked in. I didnt get the code for this problem with the car because i bought it used. and when i call the dealer they tell me i need the stereo serial number. anyone know how to get around these problems, maybe disconnect the anti theft, or someway to bring the stereo back because otherwise the dealer wants to charge my 60 bucks just to reset the code. thanks for the help
Do a search for "radio" and "security code" and you'll find a ton of posts on this.
Here's one example:

The code might be in your owner's manual or in the car somewhere. Some people have found them near the glovebox and inside the fuse box cover. Search the forum for more ideas.
You night also try contacting the dealership where the car was originally sold. That's how I recently got the codes for both my radio and the nav system in my 1999 TL. I just needed to give them the VIN number.

Just look thru the threads- and its easy to pull the radio or the side access to it and get the serial number off the back, that s why the dealer only wants 60 bucks!
Its not reset- what a story
Take that to the dealer and they can look up the 5 digit code for your radio
Happens all the time
As said above- check the glovebox door and edges for a 5 digit number
look inside the fuse box cover in the engine compartment and the dash
Sometimes its been written there by someone with the same problem as you
After you get it- register at acura.com and they can store it online for you
