Mirror re-assembly, 2002TLS

The drivers side rear view mirror on my 2002 TLS has become separated from the actuator assembly. No parts were damaged as a result of the separation, they (the mirror, two actuator shafts and two rubber boots for the shafts) just need to be re-assembled, and that is the problem; I don't know how to re-attach the mirror to the actuator. I have not been able to find any instruction for this fix (not even the local library's "Alldata Online"). I would greatly appreciate any help on solving this problem. Thanks!

You just need to line the mirror actuator cups on the back of the mirror with the actuators and give it a firm push. They should pop right into place.

Here's a picture of it.

Thank you NSXNEXT:
The mirror is now re-assembled. Here's how I did it: 1. I popped the "female" actuator shafts with their rubber boots into the sockets on the mirror back. 2. After connecting the heater wires, I aligned the "female" actuator shafts with their corresponding "male" actuator shafts and gently pushed on the face of the mirror until I could feel and hear them engage. 3. I cycled the mirror in all directions to test for operation and positive engagement of the actuator parts (including the boots) . 4. At this point the mirror was re-attached, but loose. Investigation revealed that two ball and socket joints molded into the actuator and mirror back needed to be mated. I accomplished this by positioning the mirror at a very skewed angle (arrived at by trial and error) and gently pushing on the mirror face until the joints popped into place.
Thanks once again for your help!

Buying the mirror assembly parts

Are the two actuator shafts and two rubber boots for the shafts sold separately? If so, where can I buy them from? Does the dealership sell these? What should I expect to pay for these? Thanks in advance for the advice!

Hello Tinkusboi:
Yes, the parts can be purchased seperately; the boots can be had for $6.70 and the actuators for $10.11 plus a shipping and handling charge of $6.95. These are web prices from "Sunnyside Acura" of Nashua, New Hampshire - www.sunnysideacura.com. There are other on-line sources, but these people were the cheapest I could find. Concerning Dealers, my local dealer didn't want to mess with re-assembling the mirror and quoted about $360. for a new mirror assembly installed; I never did ask them wether they sold the component parts.

In order to remove a cracked passenger side view mirror, can I just use a screwdriver, and then follow the instructions above to install a new one?

I agree with NSXNEXT, however, in order to pevent damage to the mirror housing be careful with the prying, maybe use some rags to help prevent the prying device from marring the housing.

1. What would be a reasonable price to pay for a used driver's side mirror assembly for a 2000 TL compared to a new one?

If I were to get it used - are there any cables & etc. that should come w/ it to facilitate the install?

2. Is there a DYI available or what steps do I need to take in order to do it?

Thanks

I found a used one locally from a 2001 TL - Will it fit ok on my 2000?
I assume the nighthawk black color is the same.

Still need a DYI if there's one around.

Thanks again
