Memory Seat Setting Problem

I have a 2003 TL-S and around 3 months after I bought the car from an acquaintance , the power seat memory settings completely went out. Neither button funtions or the key when placed in the ignition will activate the memory settings.

The entire power seat funtions fine, only problem coming from the memory part.

What part has failed? and how much should it cost at the dealer to get it fixed?

(Please forgive me if this has been discussed, I did a couple searches and found nothing about the issue.)

Thank you!

The memory settings for the front driver seat are the two buttons by the door handle, they can be programmed for each of the two keys that are provided with the car.

Mine mysteriously went out and now neither button will respond. What I wondered, was if the mechanism is contained within the door or under the seat or could it be a simple fuse?

went out as in the buttons dont light up?
or it doesnt auto adjust when you unlock the car?

might just have to hold the lock/unlock at the same time to turn the feature on.

hope its that.

not working like it doesn't adjust automaticlly of when you push the 1 or 2 button.. i'll try what you suggested when I go back downstairs to the garage. that sounds like it will probably work. I wasn't sure if you could turn the feature off another way then in the keyless memory settings on the dash. Oh wait lol I just noticed also i'm in the 2g forum lol, you guys don't have the dash computer..

I tried the trick of pressing both buttons, but nothin. The seat memory buttons do nothing when I press them. They give no response on the seat memory function, neither does either remote when pressed.

I don't really want to take the car to the dealership, because of my last experience with the transmission replacement and how much grief they gave me because the car wasn't purchased from their dealership, and it wasn't until I found this website and explained to them that this is a WELL DOCUMENTED problem.... I guess I don't trust them and figure even if there is a repair bulletin, they will pretend it doesn't exist.

Is there a repair bulletin for this problem on this range of second gen TL's?
