1999 3.2 TL. Malfunction indicator light came on week ago. Read manual, tightened gas cap (I had indeed just had it filled). Drove 3 trips - each between 2 and 15 miles over period of a week (I don't drive that much). Light still on. No other issues, drives fine. How urgent is it to bring it in to the shop? What is worst case scenario?

I had a bunch of work done on it a couple months ago for 90K mile checkup but nothing related to emissions, and have driven probably at least a thousand miles since then with no problem. So don't think it has anything to do with that.

Maintenance Required OR Check Engine Light? Which one is it.

The CEL is NOT a dummy light and can mean ANYTHING. All we would be doing is guessing. Get the codes read from a autoparts store for free (if not in cali) and let us know what they are. We can help you from there.
