Loud thump

Well i praying that what i heard isnt the end of my tranny or engine. I was at a stop light and when i pressed the gas i felt a loud thump to what i thought was my tranny. I ended up getting home fine and didnt feel anything wrong after that. Im a little worried so to be on the safe side im gonna do a tranny flush.

My question is my fluid level is a little low, would i be able to just fill to the proper level or would i be better off doing 3x1? I dont have time to order the fluid online so i called both honda and acura stealerships for price quotes. Honda wanted $7.50 a qt and acura wanted $10.50. From what i read i can use the honda fluid correct?

as long as the part code is ATF-Z1 you're fine from either honda or acura. it looks like you're about to do a fluid change and not a flush, which is good, but just in case DO NOT DO A FLUSH.

You can use honda fluid as long as it is atf-z1. make sure to check level at norm temp and engine is not running.

Hi tlzib :

You might want to check your engine mounts. Search the post for the numerous postings for testing and DIY for replacing the mounts.

Yeah I'm guessing the engine or tranny mounts are shot.
To test it:
1) pop the hood
2) start engine and put in drive keeping left foot on brake
3) With left foot on brake give the car some gas while someone watches the engine

If it moves considerably, your mounts are shot. Hard to tell if tranny mounts are bad but they typically all go together. It's a good design for quelling engine vibration and noise, but they don't seem to last very long (especially if your modded).

Well im on the original mounts and have 130k miles on them. They have been getting worse and worse. When i hit the gas from a stop I always get a thump but this last thump was bad. To be on the safe side i haven't drove my car, im going tomorrow morning to the dealership to get the tranny fluid, and im gonna order mounts as well. Im just so scared to drive it, so i will just wait till i have all the stuff and do it all at once. You guys are awesome and a big help, just pray for me it aint my tranny.
