Question Lost Transmission line, need help

I had cruise set at around 80mph going down I75, had been driving for about 100 miles, all the sudden rpms start rising. So I turn off cruise and coast/limp to nearest exit. I pop the hood and there is tranny fluid everywhere(I have no airbox on intake), so I look to see where its coming from and notice a rubber hose about six inches long coming out of the top of the transmission. Looks like it was clamped to another line, but I can't find it and don't have any ideal where this hose was connected to. If anyone can give me a heads up on where it goes I would greatly appreciate it. I can probably post pics tomorrow night if anyone needs to see what I'm speaking of.

Is it a tiny rubber hose ? If is it then that's the vent hose of the transmission. It will vent out the excessive fluid or if the transmission got really hot so the fluid expands and puked out.

Yes it is a small hose, what would cause it to overheat like that. I have a lead foot and put around 75 miles a day on it and it never slips or anything, I wouldn't think cruise at under 2800 rpms would be enough to overheat. Maybe it was running low on fluid, idk. I'll fill it up tomorrow and see if its leaking somewhere else.

careful on filling
best way to ck the level is 15 minute freeway criuse then get off an exit and park on safe level ground
put in park- turn engine OFF
remove trans dipstick and wipe clean- insert- remove and read
BETWEEN the 2 upper dots is what you want,,not full

Also check fluid for discoloration or burnt smell, is an indication of overheating. If the fluid level is okay, but still puking out the vent after a trip again, then the torque converter might be a problem.

So I put in three quarts of fluid, hop in the car take off and only make it about half a mile. I then put in four additional quarts and make it no further. So I've put in a total of seven quarts and I've still got no transmission. I'm not losing fluid anywhere now, so I'm lost on what to do. I live in a small town, so there's no one around that works on foreign transmissions everybody just wants to replace them. So do you think its the converter, its not coming out the vent tube or anywhere else? No cels or anything, I don't hear the normal clicking when changing through the gears while sitting still either.

How is the fluid level ? If you have to add 7 quarts to bring it to full level, then you have a problem my friend. You didn't put it into the engine did you ? I'm asking this because i'd seen someone did that before. So you can only drive it for 1/2 mile and it won't move any more, is this right ?

Not been able to get an accurate reading on dipstick because I've not been able to drive it to get it up to temp. Yes I put fluid in the transmission and not the engine. I did finally get the check engine light, vsa and ! Light to come on and the D5 light to flash so hopefully I can get a reading out of the computer that will let me know what's wrong. If it sits for about an hour it will pull for a little boy as soon as I stop its gone.

Sounds like the torque converter failed on you. Most of the time if the converter failed, the transmission will have to be overhaul because when it fail, it will contaiminate the transmission and solenoids. You can still check the fluid level with the engine running, the reading will be a little bit lower when cold. When warms up the fluid will expand and you will get a higher reading. Should be very close in reading compare to that you drive for a little bit to get it to warm up and shut the car off and check the dip stick for level like most of the people here recommend. The one that you must shut off the engine to check for fluid level are the very early Hondas back in the 80's. The reason being is that where the dipstick goes inside of the transmission is very close to the gears inside, so if you have the engine running you will get the fluid splashing all over the dip stick, and that's why you can't get the correct reading. And most of the time if you pull out the dip stick with the engine running, the gears inside will hit the dip stick.

was there any fluid on the stick when you started?
and 3 qts brought it on the stick to the lowest of 3 dots?
Im guessing that lowest is for a cold min for techs to use but most accurate method is warm so acura gives us that with the 2 upper dots on dipstick
did you ck??? or just added more and more fluid in desperate frustration?
the entire trans with tq holds 7.3 qts
you can drain 3 out at a time--the rest hides in the convertor

With all the lights and symptoms now--Im guessing you have a bonafide trans failure

02 with 165--you would have to have a golden relationship with your dealer to get comped a trans at that miles
thats pretty impressive actually lifespan
many of us have been thru 2, 3, 4, 5!! trans in that time!!!

more specialty shops are rebuilding units and doing an exchange system for yours- instead of rebuilding yours at a shop that doesnt know these trans

local place can order and install- that part is pretty normal front wheel drive car

try internet search for rebuilt acura transmissions
