Lost code for enabling radio!

Where would I get a new code for my radio without driving an hour to the nearest dealer and if I have to, how much would it normally cost?

- Thanks! Matt...

Not sure on older TL's but with newers ones you can register your car on acura.com with the VIN and will it display the radio code. This sometimes works and sometimes doesn't You can also call any dealer and give them your VIN and serial number off of the radio and they will give you the code; this has worked for me.

depends on what year
and its not a `new code`- its THAT radios security code-

ck our DIY section for more info but some years you press the radio station buttons a certain way and it displays code
others you can enter VIN in a free site and get the code--try websearch for that

note= sometimes you have to disconnect radio antenna or go to underground type parking structure and block antenna signal- then it will take its code
no one knows why--its just that way

ck your car for the code already written down- edge of glovebox,
inside fuse covers under hood with engine is popular, -some years have a white sticker with it printed on it
others handwritten under fuse covers
take a look around

If you've ever registered with Acura Client Services, you have two choices:

1) Retrieve it via phone (select the option for retrieving code)
2) Retrieve it via internet (https://radio-navicode.acura.com/)

If you haven't registered with ACS...register!

You need the VIN, phone number & zipcode which needs to match what they have on-file, and the radio serial number.

If you have an '01-'03, the serial number can be retrieved by turning off the radio, then holding 1 and 6 while turning on the radio; two 4-digit numbers will flash. U#### and L####. Combine these into one number as U####L#### and taking out the U and L.

If you have a '99-'00, you have to take the radio out to grab it if you can't locate any card that has it on there.

Once you have that info you should be able to retrieve the code. Note that once you have the code, and it's not being accepted, you have to follow what 01tl4tl said about taking out the antenna or locating an underground parking garage & then trying. Strong radio signals desensitize the unit.

http://owners.acura.com/registration...erstepone.aspx

there you go!--sign up as owner there- can view owner handbook online too
can also store radio/nav codes online in secure account-

also reg with 1-800 382 2238x5- they send out recall notices, so need your current address--ask if all recalls are completed--
many have not been in for the airbag inflator recall

need cars VIN for both of those systems
