light out
hey all
one of my headlights is out. it flickered for a few mins before it went out completely. i have 99 TL with xenon lights. question where do i get the lights cuz the dealership is asking for $175 for the bulb alone and i don't quite know how to change the blub on this car. I've been able to change it on my other car "Hyundai" and thats simple. I took it to my mechanic (Speedy) and he was lost as to how/where to reach the bulb from.
any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanx

First you can get a bulb on the internet for cheaper, but it will always be more expensive than halogen bulbs. Second, you need to make absolutely sure it is the bulb before spending money on it.
You need a special wrench to get to the bulb. It won't hurt to disconnect the battery since there is so much voltage involved with HID. I'm not positive what the special wrench is called, someone else will probalby chime in with that.
To test and make sure it is the bulb, swap the bulbs. Put the non-working one in the place of the working one and vice versa. Then turn on the lights and see what happens. If the side that was working is now out, it is the bulb. If you get the same result as before (the side still doesn't work even with the other bulb) it is the ballast/inverter. These are more expensive ($200-$400 or more).
