Left side wiper issue

Hey guys,

Just purchased my 02 Acura TL Type S recently and am in the process of starting to modify it.. On a recent road trip to South Carolina I noticed that the left side wiper started hitting the upper side of the window when on. After this becoming more of a issue I pulled over and tightened the nut on the wiper blade but it only helped for a few minutes.. Eventually over time it got worse and the wiper went off the left side of the car and sending the wiper blade itself flying off.. Stopped at the nearest parts place and put on a new blade and tightened the nut with the blade both in the fully up and fully down position. That lasted about thirty minutes.. Heres my question.. What part do i need to replace? Is it the linkage? Also there is a little play when you try moving the blades by hand.. Thanks for the help guys!

Could be the linkage. The plastic joints wear out over time and cause play in the wiper arms. These links describe the problem and how to fix.

Yeah, it's a rather common problem with an easy "DIY" fix.

for those who dislike the right side blade going `over-limit` off glass
I use a 1 inch shorter blade- no prob with visibility change- its up high where you are not looking, and still has plenty of overlap in the center with left blade

Interesting. OEM drivers side is 600mm, or 23.6 inches. Aftermarket is usually specified as 24, which is 1/2 inch long anyway.

But the solution to excessive slap (play) is replacing the worn linkage.

I have replaced a dozen of these. Every single one was the Rod Unit A. The oem part # is 76540-S0K-A01. Amazon has them for a good price and prime shipping. Make sure you put the new one on the same way the old one was on or the new unit will pop off if flipped.
