I just purchased a 99 TLP used and i am having a problem with my keyless entry. The remote works but only when i am in my car close to the remote reciever. When i am outside the car does not pick up my keyless entry remote signal and does not open / lock doors. I went to the dealership and they want 170 bucks just to CHECK it, does anyone know how to fix this problem? WHen im sitting in my car it works i can lock / unlock / open truck, but the remote doesnt work outside. I do know that the antenna signal pick up unit is in my dash near the glove box does anyone have a resolution to my problem ?

 

You try changing the battery? (in the remote?)

 

Yep, thats the first thing that i would check, after changing the battery. you might want to check your fuses and the battery connection, but it just sounds like you've got a dead battery in your remote.

 

wow, $170 just to check it!!!! makes me sick how they take care of their costumers!!!

 

Like others said, it's probably the battery. The communication is fine, because you said it works if you're sitting inside the car. It's probably close to dead.

 

well the remote is brand new from the Dealership unless they gave me dead batts
