Are K&N air filters worth the extra money?
Are they really worth the extra money? I don't do any high performance driving or anything but didn't know if they just happened to be just that much better. What else would be a good brand or is everything pretty similar?

Yes, I have one for all my cars...i do see slightly better mpg, and the car feels a bit stronger when accelerating..more air = better combustion...simple formula..i hear removing the intake resonator behind the front bumper and a drop in K&N filter is pretty much a homemade CAI

I agree with all previous posts. Yes, it is worth it. But, along with the increased airflow comes the potential for larger than normal particles to enter into the air intake. This in fact does happen as soon as you replace your stock filter with the K&N. However, I've never had any problems with it!

Try to stay away from dusty roads and winter-salted roads with high-flow filters. Sand and salt particles will not burn up, and will only scotch up the cylinder walls and rings inside the engine, thereby increasing the chance of compression loss and engine-oil burning sometime down the road.

Sometimes the K&N will help increase air flow and resusltant HP, but it can create inconsistent air flow at higher RPMs. Realtime racing used the stock OEM airflow setup when running their 600+ HP NSX. IMHO.
