Are K&N air filters worth the extra money?

Are K&N air filters worth the extra money?

Are they really worth the extra money? I don't do any high performance driving or anything but didn't know if they just happened to be just that much better. What else would be a good brand or is everything pretty similar?

They basically pay for themselves after a couple of scheduled replacements. Since they are reusable, you just need to clean them every so often and put it back in, you don't need to keep buying new filters.

there's better air flow with this type versus the stock paper material also. slight increase in gas mileage.

Yes, I have one for all my cars...i do see slightly better mpg, and the car feels a bit stronger when accelerating..more air = better combustion...simple formula..i hear removing the intake resonator behind the front bumper and a drop in K&N filter is pretty much a homemade CAI

I agree with all previous posts. Yes, it is worth it. But, along with the increased airflow comes the potential for larger than normal particles to enter into the air intake. This in fact does happen as soon as you replace your stock filter with the K&N. However, I've never had any problems with it!

a properly oiled k&n filter has served me well in every vehicle I have ever owned. if particles penetrate, then the combustion would most likely burn it up.

got mine from autozone...most parts stores carry them or can order the size you need if not in stock.

K&N is a brand new filter. Theres many more for cheaper that do the some job. its just not called K&N

Try to stay away from dusty roads and winter-salted roads with high-flow filters. Sand and salt particles will not burn up, and will only scotch up the cylinder walls and rings inside the engine, thereby increasing the chance of compression loss and engine-oil burning sometime down the road.

I have a K&N airfilter in my acura and I LOVE IT!! Get better gas mileage, and add a more horsepower!! A+++

My K&N cost $47. It's about the cost of 2 filters. I noticed a slight improvement on my fuel but really noticed the high RPM improvements.

Sometimes the K&N will help increase air flow and resusltant HP, but it can create inconsistent air flow at higher RPMs. Realtime racing used the stock OEM airflow setup when running their 600+ HP NSX. IMHO.
