Jumpy accelerator
Jumpy accelerator
I've had a 2002 3.2TL for about two years now. My wife and I both love it. It's responsive and smooth to drive ! Unfortunately it's the most practical car in our family for my daughter to drive. She's 17 ... a pretty good driver (only one accident so far. Sigh).
The car practically encourages you to accelerate fast each and every time. Is there a way to temporarily reduce the touchiness of the accelerator .... ie: scale back fuel delivery until it's depressed a bit more. For a new young driver, it may alter her driving habits and prevent accidental over-acceleration etc..

I'm reluctant to sell the TL for a smaller car because up to now my wife has loved driving it on her long commute (and it's safe for that!). After my daughter goes to college in a year or so, she'll want to start driving it again (in the meanwhile she's driving the MDX .. which I don't mind for a year, but not good for the long term due to gas mileage and not wanting to rack too many miles on this car as it gets a lot during vacation etc..).
I'll look into the throttle cable loosening approach.
