Inverter
Inverter
I took my 2003 Acura TL in to the Santa Monica Acura because I had a headlight out. After 2 hours they found that they thought it was the inverter. To replace the right headlight inverter they want $860. The left headlight had some condensation on the inside, but the light still worked. They recommended that I replace the lense and it will cost $374.00. If I do it another time it'll cost $499.00.
The front and rear motor mounts also need to be replaced and they want $810 for that.
Not to mention the light on my clock is out, and they don't even recommend that I replace that at all because it's too expensive in the labor.
Also my right rear window motor is going out. They recommend I just don't open that window.
The total recommended labor and parts came to about $3500. I didn't go ahead with any of the labor. This includes replacing three worn tires and doing alignment.
That night, when the sun went down, I found that I had no headlights, instead of just one.
My questions are many, but I'll stick to three.
Is there a cheaper way to fix these headlights? Is there some kind of recourse when I have so many expensive problems with such a young car?
Is Santa Monica Acura taking me for a ride?

yea bro they are buttraping u nasty man...
...witht that money jus for the inverter u could jus buy an aftermarket HID kit for wayyyy cheaper and still have money left over for the other stuff...thats why their called STEALERSHIPS...:thief:
can you remove the front bumper cover? if so you prolly just saved yourself 500 bucks. go to a junkyard to find ballasts etc or just go ahead with a new HID kit. damn a mucullugh (sp?) kit is prolly 350 at most. motor mounts just fail...i had to do one as well. get a new window motor from teh junk yard as well.

Look on Ebay for your part. An inverter is also called a ballast. You can pick up an OEM ballast and ignitor for about $150. They're not hard to install, you just have to have some time and some minor ability with tools.
