Unhappy Interior light won't turn on

Hi, This my first time of posting the thread. I have a 99 Tl. I accdidently made a spark on the control unit under the dashboard passenger side and my interior light will not turn on after that when I opened any doors and also when I turn of the engine the light suppose to come on but it doesn't. But I can turn it on by switch the light to ON position, only DOOR position doesn't work. What else should I check? I did check the fuse for the interior light. I was trying to check the control unit on passenger side by took the whole unit out, but I don't have any idea which reley is the one for the dome light. Thanks.

I was trying to find any socket that I can jump another 12V. lighter socket for my GPS. I used the meter and accidently touched 2 connector at the same time in the same socket. It was the other of all releys and control unit box. You have any idea which reley something else did I burn?

seeing how u jumped the fuse, reason it didnt blow. i think u might have burned a wires or something. im good with electrical but i have to be their and check it out myself. try tracing the wires and see if u find an open or short.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have any ideas what component is this socket for or any diagram of this control unit box? I think something on the other side of the unit must be blown which I don't know what it is. I check all relays, they all are good except the big grey box looks like a control unit which I don't know how to check it.

Thanks for the help. The auto dimming mirror, maplight are working alright and also the roof. The only thing that dome light doesn't turn on is when I open the door, turn off the engine, and unlock the doors. My mistake, It might be the one above it that I did spraked. Thanks in advance.

if all lights are working including the spotlights on the door my guess is you have a bad bulb. in that circuit from the fuse box it splits to go up to the dome light and also the lights on the front 2 doors. its fused @ #11 on the p/s fuse box so if that fuse is good its most likely a bad bulb. worst case if its not that try pulling the dome light so you can check for power at the connector and if theres power then its a bad dome light switch, if theres no power you have a short.

theres nothing you can do about it, you have to replace some module, or some shit, this has been discussed b4, its a problem only with 99's, ppl have done this b4 wiring up other lights off it... the place where you made a spark..

I think I found the problem. I made a sprak in the socket that I mention before. I found out that I have to replace control unit behind the fuse box on passenger side. Since I have sparked in the socket, I connect to the other side of the fuse box which lead to the control unit. I cost about $150 for new part, but I am thinking of getting one from the junkyard. I ask the person at the yard he told me it will cost about $10, if I take it out from the car by myself. I'll let you guys know what is gonna happen after I replace the control unit box.

I'm done! All I did was replacing the whole fuse box on passenger side. I got it from the junk yard for $10. Now my dome light is working normally. But I just have to work on how to turn on the sound signal when I press lock button on the remote twice. I did press trunk unlock and lock buttons on the remote and it didn't do anything at all. Any suggestion?
