Installing Alternator?
Installing Alternator?
Well i'm replacing my alternator since the bearing is shot. This is for a 1999 TL. Has anybody done this before? Are there any parts needed to be removed in order to access the alternator? Difficult task?
The dealer is asking for a little over $200 labor to install. I'd rather do this myself. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated

I havent actually done it in the car ( i did it with the motor out of the car) You should have enough room to pull it out. the ac lines can be pulled out of the way. i would also remove the engine cover and that will give a little more clearance
Sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but my question fits this one pretty closely and I didn't want to have to link to an old one. I need to replace my alternator (bad bearings), and found this thread via search while looking for steps for replacement.
At the end of the image, it states you need to complete the ECM Idle Learn Procedure and the Power Window Control Set reset. Does anyone have steps for this, and can you let me know if this is necessary on an 02 TL-S?
Thanks folks!

Thanks for the reply - I forgot that was in the manual, it's been awhile. I dug around online and found this on a Honda SUV forum. Does this sound familiar for the ECM? I couldn't find anything specific to a TL.
1. all electrical items off.
2. reset the ECM (pull fuse or disconnect battery ground for a few minutes) (make sure you have your radio codes!!!!)
3. turn on ignition switch (position II) and wait 2 seconds
4. Start engine, hold at 3000 rpm, no load, until the radiator fan comes on.
5. Let engine idle about 5 minutes with the radiator fan off. If the fan comes on during this idle period, do not count that running time as part of the 5 minutes.
Thanks!
