Cool Im baaaack!

Sup motor is makeing noise while driving. some decribe it as squeeking im guessing the baring in timing tensioner is worn and looking like its not spinning perfectly. Car has 164 k as of tonight would be nice to do a extensive tune up and timing job up on the acura. I took it in today to the dealership aka stealership, I was confused which exact pulley but after doing the reseach n trying see what the issue was also the S.A said its not the timing belt tensioner recall, under the timing cover, thats its my drive belts or accessory belts yadada... I figure I needs em all . I thought the part is called the idlers pully but im guessing that can be easily confused with the tensioner pully. I hope you all can decode

let me see if I understand
you are not part of the timing belt pulley recall that some 02-03 got?

you do have a noise you havnt ckd yourself, but is likely the ac belt tensioner?
thats a common failure

why are you using dealer?
get the tbelt wp service (the 105) done asap at a local honda dealer (some will do it)
or private shop with TL experience
get ALL tensioner and roller/idler pullies for the tbelt replaced then too

ps pump- replace with aftermarket, belt tension is critical- needs to be looser than average car- a little tight and it wears out the pump bearings
Is your pump leaking? why do they want to rebuild not replace--thats odd at dealer
Maybe the ps tensioner is bad and thats what you hear?

some brembo or centric rotors and matched pads would be better than OE
those stock brakes are easily replaced with superior parts,, for less cash!

your girl- over 25- good DL- has insurance? May have to put the work order in her name to keep it legal but speak with the service manager beforehand
Which brings us back to -why the dealer?
she can rent a car from enterprise cheap-- if you tell them your car is in the shop

1. Ya Im not included haha I read somewhere to at least give it a shot. The service advisor inspected it when I took it up there. We can see smooth looking tensioner pulley to the right of the alternator not the one directly below it. Ya I looked at it myself I thought the crank pulley was making all the noise, I got quotes from all the acura dealers its about 700 to 900.

2. If I go to honda would it be more affordable I figure the job is always around a grand depending. Im just worried if I got the timing belt done if that wouldnt correct the sound issue. The sa point out that the pump is leakin fluid down the side of the motor. How many pullies gears are there???

3. I see about the brake options brembo rotors sound good I wonder how much they are. I was planning oem pads cause I figure they are the best. I would like more stopping power I need new brake pads.

4. Ya prolly not gonna let acura do it.
I see you all buying oem tb kits does it got all that you need for 105 service?

ac belt tensioner ?--the complete unit not just half of it? thats cheap!
I paid 85 several years ago at local import parts store

invest 3 dollars in a mechanics stethascope- harbor freight tools or any parts store will also carry for a few more dollars
Then you can probe the engine parts for where exactly a noise emanates
alt bearings, ac tensioner, valves, yadayada

if you have the skills and tools needed for the 105, our sponsor prestige acura has the 295$ kit,,or rockauto for gates parts are fine

see parts diagrams or the diy to show how many rollers and tensioners there are

Two rows of three cylinders

A DOHC V6 or V8 would have four. Such as this NSX motor...

i need to do a full tune up, for far on the car all i have done is replace the hid ballast on the passenger side and headlight gaskets, oil changes, 1 transmission fluid change with Acura aft "LONG LIFE FLUID" lol said for newer model Acuras on the bottle, i been having this urge to change the radiator fluid but my friend just told me to wait for all i knows its good.. but i guess imma have to flush it when i do the Timing job and water pump.

im really gonna tint the car now soon to make it look alot better, i want to change the shocks when i do my front brakes with new brembos and im guess hawk pads or something along them lines i really need new front pads,

gotta pay my car off this year hopefully so i avoid paying more interest and try to knock my car note out this year. i got two years left and i know paid alot for it but i needed something for the family quick and this car seem to fit our needs plus seem wait better then some integra i just lost. so imma make it really nice this year to make me want to pay it off even faster. but i dont think imma really do anything speical til its paid off but other stuff im cool with.

wow you are confusing - just take care of your car and it will be fine. no need to go to an acura dealership for regular work that any mechanic can do (with any Honda/Acura experience) and no need to drive 140 MPH in this car or ANY car unless you are on a track or 100% sure no other car could get in your way

SOHC (like our TL) = SINGLE overhead cam (1)
the picture below of the NSX is a DOHC = DUAL overhead cam (2)

im wondering if i ordered the right part.

i found a diagram earlier with all the belt charts but no i cant find it it had the nsx belt diagram and all the other belt route diagram. its said T with it circled is what i need to replace. accories belt pully or is it a whole assembly?

cool just remember - it is not just you out there on the road when you are driving that fast. you may be in control but there are a lot of things out of your control and that is why you should take it to the track.
I think you are right on the tensioner but I have not changed a belt myself on this car...just looks like too much of a pain vs a regular forward mounted engine

ya im thinking of what parts i wanted to use i just called orileys back i think they ordered the idler pulley and that isnt what i need. i been looking at different ones i think koyo is what the factory one is but i dont think i want that cause the one i have is bad but then again it made it this far so its probably good i notice its like 4 dollars more then the gates. do you think you get what you paid?? if i go with the gates im guess i should go with there belt and pulley kit??
